- Have you seen TrueStory Theater perform, and/or attended our Playshops?
- What attracts you: to True Story Theater and to Playback Theatre?
- Performance skills: Tell us about your experience with:
* Acting/improvisation
* Movement/dance
* Voice/singing
* Musical instruments
- Listening skills: Essential qualities for Playback practitioners include keen listening, self-awareness, and compassion. Please tell us a bit about how you have developed these traits in your life (e.g. through personal growth work, spiritual practice, communication training, relationships…)
- Teamwork: is also a key part of our troupe, both on and off the stage. Tell us a little about your experience with the give-and-take of contributing to a team, and your experiences (positive and negative) being part of groups.
- Diversity: We welcome diversity of many different kinds in the troupe to enhance our ability to perform effectively for a wide range of audiences. Please tell us a little about “identities” that are important to you (could be race, ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation, country of origin, class, and others). How are they important to you?
- Mission: Do you support the mission of True Story Theater of promoting social healing through theater? How does it speak to you?
- Time Commitments: We have a large ensemble company in part because our members live very busy lives. Our members have committed to making TST a priority so that they can participate in rehearsals and shows. Please read & answer each of the questions in this section:
- Are you able to commit to attending the whole troupe rehearsals the first Sunday of each month (unless a major holiday weekend and then it's the 2nd Sunday) from 1:30-5:30pm plus an annual weekend retreat in the summer (scheduled well in advance)? (Note: we've also been having optional 24-hour retreats in the winter also scheduled well in advance.)
- Would you be willing to do some extra training early on to master the basics so you are ready to perform? This would mean at least one extra rehearsal per month (typically 7:15-9:15pm on a weeknight)?
- What other commitments do you have that compete for your time/attention? (Please don't overlook naming major ones like parenting or caring for other dependents, jobs that are either demanding or are difficult to schedule.)
- Are you willing to do 1-2 hours/month of volunteer work (which could be done intensively helping a troupe development project once a year)?
- We are asked to perform both during the day and evening – somewhat more often during the week but also on weekends. Would you be willing to commit to perform 10-12+ times per year? If you are willing to perform more than once a month, how often?
- During the next 6-12 months, will you be able to perform (please be as specific as you can, and mention any season variations):
- Between 9am and 5pm Mon-Fri?
- Mon-Fri evenings?
- Saturday and Sundays?
- Would you be willing to read and respond to emails for scheduling gigs noted as "timely" in the subject line within 48 hours (unless you are out of town)?
- Anything else you want to ask us or want us to know?
